A Shropshire Lad

Clunton and Clunbury

Clungunford and Clun

Are the quietest places under the sun

A E Housman

A day out on Sunday and a walk in Clun - intentions were to see the Castle remains - quite stunning - it was a clear day with blue skies and sunshine - we had left the mist and murk in the valleys below on our way up into the surrounding hills.

I think the picture of the sleepy village above illustrates the poem above quite well

I have included a few pics that took my eye - we walked around the castle mound and back through the village - the village is set on the hillside so pathways include many steps which add to the magic of the village.- we popped into the sun - for a coffee - and I must say the bar and lounge were  heaving with walkers - locals and several dogs

Here is the castle - now in ruin - but it is now  English Heritage so is protected  -

and this shot was taken looking up at the Castle Mound and

looking down from the Mound to the River Clun
We were only there for a short while but we were fascinated by the village and intend to return to follow a more lengthy walk  - Jane
